Early Learners - Color week was so much fun. The children enjoyed reading The Mixed Up Chameleon by Eric Carle, and some of the activities that went along with the story. We played animal BINGO, and a color sorting game. We also conducted a lot of science experiments like, color mixing bottles, mixing colors in shaving cream, and making rainbow colors by pouring water onto skittles.
Preschool 1, 2 & 3 are having lots of fun with our new unit focusing on color. A big part of this unit is done by experimenting, so we have been using our observational skills, making predictions and doing some fun science activities. We have watched what happens to Skittles when you add a little warm water, we learned that different kinds of tissue paper can bleed or lose their color, and we even painted with ice cubes! On top of all this fun science, we continue to work on our letters, letter sounds, numbers and patterns. Of course, we make sure to get lots of time playing with friends in as well!
Preschool 4 had a great time celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday. They made adorable Cat in the Hat, hats, explored oobleck and even made their own green eggs and ham. The children were a little skeptical of the green eggs but they all gave them a try anyway. Most of the class loved the green eggs.
Pre-K 1 and 2 had a "perfect" week learning about the letter P! They participated in many "P" activities. One of their favorite activities was a pet Show n Tell. Each of their pets won an award. They ended the "P" week with a Pancake/Pajama Party and playing a fun movement game called Popcorn Pancake!
